Celebrating Community
Contributions to our Classrooms
In January 1870, the first public school building opened in Greenfield, Indiana. James Whitcomb Riley, the Hoosier poet, was one of the first 236 children to be enrolled. Since that beginning, the Hancock County schools that are now a part of Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation have educated myriad individuals with rewarding careers and hearts for service – people who touch the lives of others – from musicians, elected officials and CEOs, to doctors, lawyers and entrepreneurs. Their life journeys began in our classrooms.
The Greenfield Central School Foundation aspires to celebrate the personal and professional contributions of many of these wonderful individuals through our GC Alumni Hall of Fame. Through this recognition, we can expose our children and community to the positive influence of people with similar roots who have branched out to impact others at a local, regional, national and /or international level.
