Jeff Harris Barber and Beauty School Scholarship

Greenfield Central School Foundation is honored to administer the Jeff Harris Barber and Beauty School Scholarship.  Jeff Harris, longtime owner/operator of Ye Olde Head Shoppe Salon and Spa and a 1970 graduate of Greenfield-Central, passed away on February 16, 2022.
He was committed to the Greenfield community with a strong desire to see it prosper. Jeff volunteered for many organizations such as GYBA, Greenfield Boys & Girls Club, Rotary, and Greenfield Christian Church. Jeff was named the “Businessman of the Year” by the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce in 2006. He was committed to his community and its school corporation. He bled “Blue & Gold” so much that there were very few school or community fundraisers that he did not donate to, whether it was academics, music, VEX/PLTW, or athletics.

For the last several years, Jeff ran the 40 second clock at home GC Football games.
College was not in the cards for Jeff. So, upon graduation, he attended Indiana Barber College and after a brief stint in Indianapolis, he started cutting hair in Greenfield. His belief in the youth of the Greenfield-Central community is why he often told young people who were not sure what to do after high school that they should consider a trade school if college wasn’t the right fit for them. He felt that you could earn a good living working with your hands and still make an impact on your community.

By being the local town Barber, Jeff made lifelong friends and he cut hair of several generations of Hancock County families. He truly believed his lifelong relationship with these people was the best gift he could have been given.   The scholarship will be for any Greenfield-Central High School graduate who would like to attend an Indiana accredited Barber or Cosmetology School of their choosing.  Please note that this scholarship is not for continuing education, but for new students getting into the industry.
